Today at Prime Minister's Question Time Simon Hughes demanded to know why Labour ministers have given themselves a pay rise larger than the average income of Southwark residents.
Hughes asked Harriet Harman, who was standing in for the Prime Minister:
"Does the deputy labour leader realise that in the last decade the salary of cabinet ministers has risen by over £30,000?
"How on earth can Labour ministers justify paying themselves an increase which on its own is greater than the annual take home wage of the people [Harriet Harman] is elected to represent?"
